For some time now I have been meaning to attempt a gilled pizza. I have heard from several different friends how good they are and how fairly straightforward they are to prepare. I am no Frank Cason, but I decided to try my luck anyhow. As a side note, take a look at http://www.thesaltblock.wordpress.com/ when you have the chance. My friend Frank is a gifted man. So I spent Saturday evening making preparations. I did not go so far as to make homemade dough as the pizza dough from the Publix bakery seemed inexpensive and easy. I did not do anything fancy, only red sauce (at least I made that), cheese, italian sausage and pepperoni. The more exoctic ingredients will come later. I did not want to go overboard on my maiden voyage. All in all, the final product turned out fairly well. The first pizza I put on the grill ended up a little on the charred side, but lesson learned and the second pizza turned out better. I still need to work on the the cheese melting properly without burning the crust, but with practice will come improvement. I don't think Elizabeth will mind at all me taking over responsibility for a meal every once in a while.
